I watched the Netflix doc on the Fyre Festival last night and I can’t get my head around it. Here’s a story with one very bad guy, a lot of other bad guys, a bunch of people who don’t seem to think of themselves as bad guys but very much are, and other than a bunch of workers in the Bahamas, I don’t see any real victims.
Truth is, stuff like this exposes just how little I understand so much of the world. Beyond that, it reinforces the lack of respect I have for many aspects of our culture like the silicon valley VC world, entrepreneurship as sport, the very idea of influencers, the desperate desire to look rich, the whole me Me ME thing …
I find it revolting. If anything, it’s like we’re back in the Reagan years. And yes, I feel like a judgmental prick.
